Will Spain Be The Most Popular Holiday Destination Yet Again?

Spain has always been a popular holiday destination for Europeans. People from places as far away as Norway, Sweden, and Finland go to Spain to spend their holidays during summer. The holiday resorts along the Mediterranean coast of Spain depend on the summer vacationers for their businesses.

Tourism has changed fishing villages into booming tourist resorts. Now, why do holiday makers go to Spain? The reason is quite simple; they want to enjoy the summers, the beaches, and the lovely weather. They come from places where the weather is cold and rainy. They come to sun bathe, swim, and relax. There is no reason that the holiday makers will stop coming to Spain, and Spain will no longer be a popular holiday destination.

A number of people who love to spend their holidays in Spain have purchased summer homes and villas in Spain and therefore are not going to give up going there. They may come for a shorter holiday, but they will come. Also, those people who take their holidays as a necessary portion of their annual schedule will come to Spain. Spain has the highest number of holiday tourists who make a beeline for the coastal resorts.

They are not going to give up their holiday because of the credit crunch or any other reason. It’s only going to be a small percentage of tourists who will not go to Spain. There may be tourists who will not spend as freely as they used to. But that is not going to stop them from taking a holiday.

Some of the holiday resorts in Spain have become like a second home for people, and they are going to go there. The prices of the resorts will drop as they are dependent on tourists and this would be an incentive for holiday makers to visit.

European holiday makers have very little choice as there are no other easily accessible holiday resorts in Europe. Going to the Caribbean or the Greek Isles is going to cost much more than holidaying in Spain. So, there is no economic reason for them to go to an alternate holiday destination.

The number of tourists is going to be less than the previous years, but that is because of the overall financial crisis that the world is facing, and not because Spain has lost its popularity as a holiday destination. Those people who have lost their jobs, or have had to face bankruptcy, will be busy either searching for another job or working off their debts.

But those who have paid off debts, or who are surviving the financial crunch, are going to continue their routine life. If taking holidays in Spain is a part of their plan, they will follow it. If the prices of holidays in Spain become expensive, only then the holiday makers will seek other destinations. But that is not what is happening. So, there is no reason why Spain should lose its popularity as a holiday place. People who can afford to take their holidays in Spain and who love to holiday in Spain will come to Spain this year.
